So, I’ve been busy.

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

How is everyone doing. I have been really busy between work and going to the doctor to have checkups for the baby and hunting for a new job. My belly is getting bigger everyday now. The baby kicks me all the time. Just yesterday, he decided to make a little room by poking my belly button. It looked like someone poking their finger through a plastic bag. He managed to leave a small bruise and it was very uncomfortable. Just 3 more months.

I have seven classes left! School starts back in a couple weeks. I plan on taking two classes this Summer and one class in Fall and four class in Spring of 2007 then I will be graduated! Fall should be interesting since the baby’s due date is 4 days after the semeter starts (or something like that). I plan on at least 2 weeks off of everything, but I will probably need more time than that. I’m sure my teachers will understand, we’ll see.

I’ve stopped flying since January, when I found out we were having a baby. I really miss flying the warrior. I plan on getting back to flying probably in October or beginning of next year. I will not go back to flying at Aviation Atlanta but instead, I will try one of the flight schools at KRYY. Either Aero Atlanta or Superior Flight School. They raised the rates at Aviation Atlanta and for the same amount of money, there are some better planes at KRYY.

My birthday was yesterday.

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

Someone once asked me what I was geting for my birthday and I answered, “Older.” I’m not going to tell you how old, go do the math yourself from my about page.
It was my brithday yesterday and it was pretty good. Went flying and started my commercial training. Did some chandelles, lazy eights and was shown a steep spiral. The wind was so strong yesterday, too. My instructor decided to show me slow flight backwards and the plane was actually flying backwards. Went to Japanese for lunch with my hubby and mom in law and had some negima. Yummy. Went to the gym for the first time in a month. Went downtown to Sidebar and met up with a few classmates, had a drink and played some pool. I went to class drunk, which is something every college student should do atleast once. I was a little mad that I was the only drunk pilot in class. Came home and passed out. I got some money from family and Natalie gave me a cool photo album with a biplane on the front with a flower for the prop. I need to start printing out some of my pics and filling it up.

I GOT MY INSTRUMENT RATING!!!

Tuesday, January 10th, 2006

About fucking time, too.
I went down to Tara Field (4A7) to meet up with Bob Mcswiggan to finish up my checkride. I went last week, but hit a little snag with the ILS and had to come back. Things went well today and now I am instrument rated.

It’s on!

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

I’m nervous and excited because I scheduled my instrument checkride for December 19th. Hopefully, that will motivate me to get my ass in gear and prepare for it.

Other than that. I’ve been working on partial panel approaches. Today was a lot of fun. I filed an IFR flight plan to do a round robin from KPDK, KFTY, KRYY then back to KPDK. My instructor asked if I filed for an alternate. I didn’t, oops. So he called to amend our flight plan but, when they tried to pull up the info, they didn’t have the plan on file. So he ended up having to file for us again.

Off we went to KFTY. ATC vectored us around for the approach for ILS 8. I think they forgot about us because they vectored us right through the ILS. The needle was fully deflected and we went missed, tried it again. The second time worked out a little better.

From there, we had planed to go to KRYY to do the ILS 27 but, since we did 2 at KFTY, we requested to go back to KPDK and do the ILS 20L there. ATC told us we were #12 for landing! (holy shit) ATC vectored us about 20 miles NW of the airport before turing us toward the ILS. At one point on the approach, they asked me to speed it up for all the jet traffic behind me.All my plane could do was about 100 knots. (WHAAA, the jets had to wait for me.) Once I was on short final, the tower asked if I had the airport in sight, and i did. They asked that I land on 20R instead, for all that jet traffic. Flight time 1.8.

My instructor got a few pics for me. I will have to upload those later.

Other news:
Sorry for not posting for a while. My husband and I have been working on improvements to the photo album and the blog. On the right, you will noticed I added a link to the photo album and added a random picture below the calendar. And I have been going back through old posts to fix the pictures how I want them.

2nd IFR cross country, NDB 28 MLJ

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

What a fun day. Filed an IFR flight plan and flew down to KMLJ. Did the NDB 28 approach. The approach takes you right over Lake Sinclair, which surrounds the airport. There are several pics below.

VOR/DME 19 at KRMG, 1st IFR cross country.

Monday, October 31st, 2005

WOW, what a workout this was. I did the VOR/DME approache for runway 19. It was a real challenge, but I did it. I don’t want to ever do that again. The approach pretty much skims you right over the mountains around Rome, GA. I had a lot of fun. Below are the pics from this trip.

More Approaches, LZU, WDR and PDK

Wednesday, October 26th, 2005

We filed an IFR flight plan and flew round robin from PDK, LZU, WDR and back to PDK. Shot the ILS for 25 at LZU.Then we headed over to WDR and shot the NDB for 31. Done with that, we canceled IFR and headed back to PDK, where I practiced the VOR/DME for 27.
Landing on 2L (3.8 Mb) - My instructor made a movie of my landing today and yes, this time we got the flare. The landing wasnt as bad as it looks. Thanks for shaking the camera at the end, Dave !

NDB hold at KGVL

Monday, October 24th, 2005

Went flying yeseterday to work on NDB holds and approaches. Before take off, the KPDK was very busy. There had to be 4 in line for landing on the parallel runways. There were 3 planes holding behind me waiting to take off, and one in front of me holding for 20R. There had to be 5 jets waiting to take off on 20L. It was crazy, but after waiting 30 minutes, we finally took off.

We headed up to Gainsville and I worked on the NDB and did a missed approach there, and that went very well. Took a few pics and took a movie of our landing. Flight lasted 1.7 hours.
